7 new gadgets

hi, i'm john sexton on behalf of expert village.today we're going to be learning how to play portal, a game by valve software. a companywith which i have no affiliation. so here we can see the blue portal and theorange portal above it. if i go into the blue i come out the orange, which is above wherethe blue was as you can see there. so you just go into the blue and come outthe orange. and that's just how the basic portal gun works. if i wanted to put the blue portal here, iwalk out and now i can go in this infinite circle. where i see my character and a lotof the later puzzles involve kind of mind bending logic puzzles like that.

so off we go to the next test chamber. wherethings get a little bit more interesting. now, portal is a game that was actually developedas a student project by some university students working on the source engine, which is valve'stechnology that runs this game. and they took it to a technology software conference andshowed valve what they'd done and valve was so impressed that they actually hired theentire team of students on the spot.
